Power corrupts because you don’t need it to do any positive human emotion. You don’t need power to Love, to have friendship, empathize, organize peacefully, tell the truth, altruism etc. What you do need power for is greed, anger, retaliation, war, and so on. He tried to be greedy for “altruism” but you don’t need power to do act altruistically. I like to think everyone is inherently good and the environment you’re placed in erodes at that. He’s a piece of shit based on his actions, but I’m interested if this is just human nature and everyone placed in those same shoes would do the same. Idk that’s just my two sats.
