Imagine someone has never had to wash their own clothes, and they are well off enough to have someone hand wash their laundry for them. Out of sight out of mind. Then one day they hear about this amazing new machine that will wash your clothes for you called the washing machine allowing you to be independent and not rely on maid to wash them for you. A few weeks later, they see a laundry mat has opened up in town with people doing their own laundry. “A waste of energy!” they say. Or they may say, “that seems like a lot of work to try to understand how to use this machine”, I’ll keep hiring a maid!
